Rabbi Jerome Fox

Tashlich, 2007Rabbi Jerome Fox was ordained in 1975 at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York, NY.  He received his Master of Hebrew Letters from Hebrew Union College, NY.  He received his B.A. from New York University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a major in Hebrew and Near Eastern Studies. 

He became rabbi of Congregation House of Israel in August 2007.

Rabbi Fox and his family moved to Arkansas in 2007 after serving  for 10 years as Rabbi for the  High Point, North Carolina community.   Prior to that, he served for 14 years at  Beth Israel Synagogue in Roanoke, Virginia.  Under his leadership during this period,  Beth Israel (Conservative) and Temple Emanuel (Reform) collaborated in many important ways.  Full support was given to joint Sunday School (K-9), combined Confirmation Class, shared youth groups, joint adult education program and summer Friday evening services alternating between the two congregations.

Among the many organizations our Rabbi is involved in here in Hot Springs, he serves as the Chaplain at Levi Hospital as well as administering all pastoral care and conducting weekly Bible classes.  He is on the Scholarship Committee of the Hot Springs Rotary Club.  Each summer he is a visiting staff member at Camp Jacobs in Utica, MS.  He attends the yearly meeting  of the Interfaith Southern Jewish Life.

Rabbi “Jerry” and his wife, Carole, now reside in Hot Springs AR.  Their daughter, Elana Fox Lippa resides in Gaithersburg, Maryland with her family.  Son, Ari, lives in Durham, North Carolina.
