Etz Chaim, Hebrew for "tree of life", is figuratively applied to the Torah itself. Etz Chaim is also used to describe each of the wooden poles to which the parchment of a Sefer Torah is attached.
Sisterhood 2010
"Come see what you can do for Sisterhood... Come see what Sisterhood can do for you."
Congregation House of Israel Sisterhood welcomes in year 2010 with 44 members AND our new group of 10 Associate Members. At the suggestion of Patti Fleischner, and approved by our regular members, our associate membership group has been created and is composed of young women who attended religious school at CHI, have moved away, and would like to keep in touch with what is happening at Congregation House of Israel Sisterhood. From “generation to generation” we will be sharing our goals, activities, and caring through monthly E Mail letters to our associates. It is not too late to honor your daughters, nieces, and young friends with a monthly E Mail letter reporting what is going on in our Sisterhood and the congregation.
